MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT ( SHRI MUNI LALL ) @@ j

(a) to (c) : UN Committee on Convention on the Rights of the Child met in Geneva in January, 2000. In its final observations the Committee has noted the amendments to the schedule to the Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act, 1986. It stated its concern at the large number of working children and against non enforcement of minimum age standards for employment. It recommended ratification of ILO Convention No.138 concerning the minimum age for admission to employment and No.182 concerning the prohibition and immediate action for the elimination of the worst forms of Child Labour. Steps have already been initiated towards ratification of ILO convention No.138 and 182.
