Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS
(SHRI NITYANAND RAI)

(a) to (e): The total length of Indo-Bangladesh border is 4096.70 Km out of which 1880 Km is along Assam (263 Km), Meghalaya (443 Km), Tripura (856 Km) and Mizoram (318 Km). Out of 1880 km, approx. 1477 km has been covered by fencing. Remaining approx 403 Km will be covered by Technological solutions (approx. 62 km) and physical fencing (approx. 341 Km). The fencing work could not be completed due to difficult terrain, short working season, land acquisition problem, public protests and objections by Border Guard Bangladesh. The Government is regularly monitoring the progress of work to ensure its completion at the earliest.
