Question : Economic Condition of Minorities

(a) whether the Government has conducted any survey regarding economic condition of minorities in the country;

(b) if so, the details of the survey and the outcome thereto;

(c) whether the Government has held discussions with various stakeholders at the time of reviewing the schemes formulated for them;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons
therefor;

(e) the details of the schemes running at present to provide skill development training, education, employment and economic opportunities to minorities; and

(f) the other steps taken/being taken by the Government to improve the standard of living of minorities in the country?

(a) & (b): No Madam. However, in respect of Muslims, a study was conducted by a high level committee (popularly known as Sachar Committee). The findings are available on the website of the Ministry of Minority Affairs at, “www.minorityaffairs.gov.in”.

(b) & (d): The Government interacts with concerned stakeholders while reviewing any scheme meant for the welfare of minorities. This is a continuous process

(e) & (f): Details of the schemes / programmes / initiatives of the Ministry of Minority Affairs and those covered under the PM’s New 15-PP are available on the website of Ministry of Minority Affairs at, “www.minorityaffairs.gov.in”.
