Question : INFORMATION OF AMENITIES IN FOREST RESERVE LAND



(a) whether any reasons are conveyed by the State Governments when the Union Government seeks additional information or documents in regard to the proposal for providing essential amenities in forest/ reserve land of the State Governments;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor along with the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) to (c) Any proposal for diversion of forest land for non forestry purposes requires prior approval of the Central Government under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980, including the proposals related to providing essential amenities in forests. The Ministry seeks relevant information and documents from the concerned State /UT Governments before a decision on such proposal is taken in case the proposal does not contain all necessary information, documents as required under the said Act, along with detailed justifications.
