Question : REVENUE PAYING PASSENGERS

to Starred Question No.362 dated December 16, 2002 and state:

(a) the capacities of different types of aircraft being operated by Indian Airlines and Air India, aircraft-wise.

(b) the number of `revenue paying passengers` accommodated in each of the aircraft of Indian Airlines and Air India;

(c) the number of seats treated as non-revenue paying passengers seats;

(d) whether the airlines do not accomodate revenue paying passengers on such non-revenue paying seats and prefer keeping these seats vacant; and

(e) if so, the reasons therefor?

(a)and (b): The capacity of different types of aircraft operated by Air India and Indian Airlines is as follows:-

(c), (d) and (e) : Both the airlines do not have specific non-revenue paying seats on its aircraft. However, a few seats are available which are used for crew rest and meals. These seats cannot be sold to fare paying passengers as these seats do not have adequate comfort and amenities that are supposed to be provided to revenue paying passengers.
