Question : CISF Security at Airport

(a) the details of airports where CISF security is deployed, airport-wise;

(b) the annual expenditure incurred for deploying CISF at various airports during the last three years and the current year, year-wise; and

(c) whether it is true that aviation security fee is levied on each air ticket, if so, the details of amount so far collected during the last three years and the current year, airport and year-wise?

(a): CISF security is deployed at 62 airports. Based on the threat assessment and risk categorization, deployment of CISF is done by the regulator, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) in consultation with MHA.;

(b): The annual expenditure incurred for deploying CISF at various airports during the last three years and the current year, year-wise is as under:-
2019-20 (upto January 2020) -- Rs. 1632.85 Cr
2018-19 -- Rs. 2527.35 Cr
2017-18 -- Rs. 2035.74 Cr
2016-17 -- Rs. 1845.62 Cr

(c): Aviation Security Fee (ASF) is levied on each embarking passenger except exempted categories like Children (under age of 2 years), Holders of Diplomatic Passport, Transit/transfer passengers among others. Aviation Security Fee collected during the last three years and the current year, year-wise is as under:

2019-20 (upto January 2020) -- Rs. 1964.32 Cr
2018-19 -- Rs. 2183.63 Cr
2017-18 -- Rs. 1922.86 Cr
2016-17 -- Rs. 1685.64 Cr
Currently, ASF is collected in a central pool and the proceeds are used to meet CISF expenditure at all airports.
