(a) whether the Government has received any proposal from Tamil Nadu
State Government or any organisation/NGO/individuals to declare and notify
‘Thirukkual’ as National book which is classical Tamil language text consisting of
1,330 couplets widely admired by scholars and influential leaders over its history
also known for its universality and secular nature written by the saint poet
Thiruvallur;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the action taken by the Union Government on the request and to declare it
as national book/library at the earliest?
