THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (PROF. RITA VERMA)

(a) to (d) There were complaints against Medical Council of India regarding registration of doctors with degrees obtained from institutions in erstwhile U.S.S.R. The complaints were from Dr. R.N. Pathak and one Public Redressal Forum. The latter had made complaints against Secretary, M.C.I. The complaint was got inquired into by CBI and the CBI has concluded the complaint as being baseless. The increase of seats are being permitted by Central Government as per provisions of Indian Council Act, 1956 and the regulations framed thereunder. All purchases of Council are made through Super Bazar, Kendriya Bhandar or from Cooperative Stores. In case of non-availability of items from these sources the Council purchases items from open market.
