Question : DAMAGE CAUSED TO NATIONAL HIGHWAYS



(a) whether the Government has made any assessment regarding damage caused to National Highways due to floods during the last three years;

(b) if so, the details thereof, year-wise and National Highway-wise;

(c) whether the Government has taken any initiatives for the repair and upgradation of the National Highways damaged due to natural calamities; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS(SHRI R.P.N.SINGH)

(a) and (b) The State-wise details of the damages caused to National Highways (NHs) due to floods, rain, etc. during the last three years are annexed. However, these do not include the details pertaining to the stretches of NHs entrusted with the Border Roads Organization (BRO) for which information is being collected.

(c) and (d) The development and maintenance of NHs, including repair and upgradation of the NHs damaged due to natural calamities, is a continuous process and the works are accordingly taken up as per availability of funds, inter-se priority and traffic density.
