Question : Revival of Airports-Airstrips

(a) the number of airports/airstrips in the country lying idle and not used for commercial purposes;

(b) whether the Union Government has prepared an action plan to revive 160 airports and airstrips across the country;

(c) if so, the details of the airports and airstrips likely to be revived and revenue involved in reviving the same and source of mobilizing revenue;

(d) the role to be played by the State Governments in reviving the said airports and airstrips; and

(e) the funds allocated, released and spent by the Government under regional air connectivity scheme to connect remote towns and cities by air?

(a): The list of non-operational airports of Airports Authority of India (AAI) and operational airports of AAI which have no scheduled flight operations are at Annexure-I and Annexure-II respectively.

(b) to (d): The proposal for revival of airstrips/airports is presently under active consideration in the Government.

(e): No funds have been allocated for Regional Connectivity Scheme in the current financial year.
