Question : Establishment of IISER

(a) whether the Government has any plan to establish Indian Institute of Science Education
and Research (IISER) in Tamil Nadu;
(b) if so, the details and the salient features of the IISER;
(c) whether it is proposed to set up the IISER in Trichy which is located in the center of
Tamil Nadu and is also an educational hub of Tamil Nadu;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d) : No, Sir. There is no such proposal in the Government.

(e) : There are seven Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISERs) -
at Pune, Kolkata, Mohali, Bhopal, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati and
Berhampur, spread across various regions of the country.
