(a) to (c): Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) does not support setting up of stand alone cold storages. However, it provides Grants in Aid for cold storage infrastructure as part of food processing projects under relevant component schemes of Central Sector Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY). As part of 41 Mega Food Parks, Ministry has approved setting up of cold storage and deep freeze capacity of 2.3 LMT and as part of 350 Integrated Cold Chain projects, Ministry has approved creation of cold storage capacity of 10.02 LMT across the country under corresponding component schemes of PMKSY. Being Central Sector and demand driven scheme, no state wise allocation is made under PMKSY.
Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is implementing Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) for development of Horticulture in the country including Jharkhand & Madhya Pradesh under which financial assistance is available, inter-alia, for setting up of Post Harvest Management (PHM) infrastructure including establishment of cold storages (Construction, Expansion and Modernization) etc. The component is demand/ entrepreneur driven for which assistance at the rate 35% of the eligible project cost in general areas and 50% in hilly & scheduled areas, is available as credit linked back ended subsidy through respective State Horticulture Missions. State-wise details of funds allocated and released under MIDH for various activities including creation of cold storage facilities to various States during last two years and current year is placed at Annexure.
