Question : TRANSFER POLICY IN BANKS

(a) whether the Government has issued any circular directing Public Sector Banks (PSBs) to transfer married female employees, on request, to the location where their husbands are stationed;

(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith the follow-up by the PSBs in this regard;

(c) the number of female employees applied for transfer in last six months and number of them actually transferred by PSBs located in Delhi to the place of their request, bank-wise; and

(d) the other steps taken by the Government to implement the women friendly transfer policy in PSBs?

(a) to (d): The Public Sector Banks(PSBs) enjoy managerial autonomy in the matters related to Human Resource(HR) including transfers of their employees and the Banks are competent to decide their policies in this regard with the approval of their Board of Directors. However, Government has recently advised all PSBs to frame a policy with the approval of their Board with an objective to minimize the hardships faced by female employees in PSBs due to placement/transfer. The details of transfers effected are neither maintained nor monitored at the level of the Government
