Question : Grant to Health Sector

a) whether the Government has released Health Sector Grant to Local Bodies of various States;
b) if so, the details in this regard, State/UT-wise particularly to Maharashtra ;
c) the details of the criteria fixed for selection of local bodies and amount of grants;
d) the extent to which health systems in various such local bodies have been strengthen as a result thereof; and
e) the extent to which it will plug the critical gaps in the health care system at the primary health care level, State/UT-wise?

(a) and (b)
The Government has released 15th Finance Commission recommended Health Sector Grants to all the States including the State of Maharashtra as per State-wise details given in Annexure-I.
(c) to (e) On the basis of the health infrastructure available in the States, 15th Finance Commission identified interventions that will directly lead to strengthening the primary health infrastructure and facilities in both rural and urban areas. These grants for health through Local Governments will be spread over the five-year period from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26 and facilitate strengthening of health system at the grass-root level.The components identified for upgradation of primary health care infrastructure in Rural and Urban areas along with the summary of the amount earmarked year-wise are given in Annexure-II.
