MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI DIGVIJAY SINGH)

(a) Yes, Sir. Flooding of track takes place during heavy rains combined with high tide.

(b) The problem of drainage of railway tracks is inseparable from the drainage of the surrounding area of Mumbai and is required to be solved mainly by Mumbai Municipal Corporation by implementing the recommendations of“BRIHAN MUMBAI STORM WATER DRAINAGE PROJECT” (BRIMSTOWAD) report by enhancing the size of Brahmanwadi Nalla (ES 15/36-38) and Kurla carshed Nalla (ES 16/2-3) alongwith improvement to down stream. Railways are taking regular measures for cleaning of the drains and culverts etc. to reduce the duration of flooding.
