Question : FUNDING FOR ADVENTURE PROGRAMMES



(a) whether the Government has received proposals from the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, Himachal Pradesh for grant of Rs. 4.88 lakhs to meet the expenses for organising adventure programmes under National Programme for Youth and Adolescent Development (NPYAD) Scheme for the year 2008-09, grant of Rs. 2.00 crores for construction of artificial climbing wall system and grant of Rs. 10 lakhs for Assistance to Recognised Institutes to promote adventure;

(b) if so, whether the above proposals are pending for sanction and release of funds;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor, and

(d) the time by which the said proposals are likely to be approved/ sanctioned?

THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS (SHRI SARBANANDA SONOWAL)

(a) to (d): A Sanction for Rs. 9,75,000/- has been approved against the proposal received from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, Himachal Pradesh during 2008-09 and the entire amount has been released in two instalments of Rs. 4,87,500/- each. Proposal for grant towards construction of artificial climbing wall system could not be acceded to as there is no provision for setting up of infrastructure under the NPYAD Scheme.

Recent proposal for grant of Rs. 10 lakhs for Assistance received from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, Himachal Pradesh can be considered after the settlement of previous accounts in respect of Grant-in-aid released to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, Himachal Pradesh for Rs. 7,50,000/- during the FY 2010-11.
