(a) whether the Union Government has taken major initiatives in the field of Information Technology
with a view to benefit the tourists ;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the total expenditure incurred by Government on providing such information during the last three years ?

(a) and (b) : Yes, Sir. These initiatives include computerization, development of the tourism
website in various Indian and foreign languages, online campaigns in the worldwide web,
production of CD-ROM, VCD, DVD etc. on important tourist destinations/sites. Ministry of
Tourism also provides Central Financial Assistance to the State Governments/Union
Territories for undertaking Information Technology initiatives in their States/Union
Territories.
(c) : The expenditure incurred on IT initiatives during the last three years is as under: -
2004-05 Rs. 1452.54 lakh 2005-06 Rs. 1789.47 lakh 2006-07 Rs. 1990.04 lakh
