Question : REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS AND DEATHS BILL

(a) whether the Government proposes to re-introduce the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2012;

(b) if so, the details and the present status thereof;

(c) the salient features of the proposed amendment in the said Bill;

(d) whether the Government proposes amendment in marriage law to it women friendly; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the other steps taken/being taken in the regard?

(a)to(c): Yes Madam. The proposal to re-introduce the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2014 to provide for compulsory registration of marriages irrespective of religious denominations of the parties is under consideration.

(d)to(e): Yes Madam. The proposal to amend the Marriage Laws is being examined by the Government.
