Question : RULES FOR DECLARATION OF NATIONAL MONUMENT



(a) the details of the places which have been declared national monuments in Jalna district of Maharashtra as per the said Ancient Monuments Archaeological sites and Remains Act, 1958 and Rules, 1959;

(b) whether these places are to be declared as tourist places;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the funds allocated for development of these monument during 2000-2001 ?

(a) An ancient site at Bhokardhan in Jalna District of Maharashtra has been declared as protected site of national importance under the provisions of Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958 and Rules, 1959.

(b)&(c) The declaration of a place as a tourist place is outside the charter of the Archaeological Survey of India.

(d) No funds have been provided in the current financial year for the Bhokardhan site.
