(a) The Union Government through Central Silk Board (CSB) have supported for establishment of an
Eri Spun Silk Mill at Kokrajhar in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) under Centrally Sponsored
Scheme, namely, Catalytic Development Programme (CDP) during the X Plan. But there is no
specific proposal for setting up a Sericulture College or an Apparel park in the Bodoland
Territory
(b) A financial assistance of Rs.112.50 lakhs has been provided towards construction of
building, procurement of machinery and equipments for the said project. The mill has started
its commercial production with effect from the year 2009. A Regional Silk Technological Research
Station (RSTRS) at Guwahati (Assam) has also been established to provide necessary training
support in post cocoon sector for the benefit of people of North Eastern region including BTC.
The CDP schemes implemented in Assam including Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) focus on the
development of Muga and Eri culture. A list of such Eri, Muga and Post Cocoon components under
CDP during 11th Plan is enclosed at Annexure-I. The details in respect of funds released/
utilized by Assam & BTC for the development and promotion of sericulture under the CDP during
the last three years (2009-10 to 2011-12) are as under:
