Question : HIGHWAY PROJECTS



(a) the details of national highways in the country and procedure adopted for maintenance, development and repair of national highways, State-wise;

(b) whether the Government has approved highways projects worth Rs. 40,000 crore for implementation in the country;

(c) if so, the details thereof, along with the funds allocated to various State Governments, State-wise; and

(d) the details of ongoing/pending projects for development of national highways under the National Highways Authority of India, State-wise?

(a) State/UT-wise details of NHs in country is at Annexure-I. The development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs) is a continuous process. The NHs in the country are developed and maintained in stretches selected based on inter se priority and availability of recourses. All the NHs are kept in traffic worthy condition from time to time within the available resources.

(b) to (d) Government has approved highway project of worth about Rs. 31,000 crore during year 2014-15. State-wise allocation of funds for development of NHs for year 2014-15 and length under implementation by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is at Annexure-II.
