Question : WATER RECHARGING SCHEME UNDER UIDSSMT



(a) the details of the water recharging projects/schemes approved/ undertaken by the Government in various States of the country under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise including Madhya Pradesh;

(b) the progress made on such project/scheme, State-wise;

(c) whether there is any provision for change of place/location by the concerned agency after approval of the projects/schemes;

(d) if so, the details thereof alongwith the changes made including in Madhya Pradesh; and

(e) if not, the reaction of the Government to such changes in the locations of projects/schemes?

Statement referred to in reply to Lok Sabha Starred Question No.398 for answer on 30.8.2010 REGARDING wATER RECHARGING SCHEME UNDER UIDSSMT

(a) & (b): Water Recharging through Preservation of Water Bodies is one of the admissible components under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT). During the last three years and the current year 2 projects of Preservation of Water Bodies, one each in Hamirpur town of Himachal Pradesh and Jajpur town of Orissa have been sanctioned. The details of these projects and progress made so far are given in annexure.

(c) to (e): Any change in terms of the approved projects including change in location need to be approved by the State Level Sanctioning Committee (SLSC). Water Body projects are location specific and no change in location of Water Body project has been approved so far.
