(a) to (c) : The plan outlays earmarked for the Major Ports and utilisation thereof during the last three years is given at Annexure I. Minor Ports come under the jurisdiction of the State Governments and therefore, such information in respect of Minor Ports is not available.
The reasons for shortfall in plan outlay utilisations inter-alia, are :
(i) Delay in sanctioning of new schemes
(ii) Delay in commencement of work due to monsoons.
(iii) Contractual disputes/litigation
(iv) Delay in finalisation of tenders and award of contracts.
(v) Deferment of projects/schemes.
(d)&(e) The details of the plan schemes including capacity yielding ones costing Rs 5 crores and above, to be taken up by the Cochin Port Trust in the Annual Plan 2000-2001 is given at Annexure II.
