Question : DD India World Channel

(a) whether the Government is planning to launch DD India world wide channel on the line of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) world;

(b) If so, the details and salient features thereof;

(c) whether DD India world work in accordance with guidelines provided by his Ministry and Ministry of External Affairs or it maintain complete autonomy, if so, the details in this regard;

(d) whether India and Russia agreed to strengthen ties in the information and broadcasting sector with the exchange of media personel; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c): Prasar Bharati has informed that there is no plan to launch DD India Worldwide on the line of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) world, at present.

(d) & (e): No, Madam. However, a meeting has been held between the two sides where the issue of bilateral cooperation was discussed.
