Question : NEW RAIL LINE PROJECT



(a) the date on which the Katangi- Tirodi new rail line under the South- East Central Railway was sanctioned and the cost involved in this regard;

(b) whether the process of land acquiring is being completed;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the time limit set for the completion of laying this new railwayline?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI MANOJ SINHA)

(a): Katangi- Tirodi New Line (15 Km) has been sanctioned as Material Modification to Jabalpur- Gondia Gauge Conversion Project in 2011-12 at a cost of ` 119 crore.

(b)&(c): The process of acquiring Private land measuring 45 hectares, transferring Government land measuring 7.3 hectares and diversion of forest land measuring 18.7 hectares has been taken up with Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. However, no land has been handed over to the Railways.

(d) No time frame has been fixed for completion of this railway line in the absence of complete acquisition of land.
