Question : GAUGE CONVERSION BETWEEN LOHARU TO JAIPUR



(a) whether the work on narrow gauge from Jaipur to Loharu via Sikar in Rajasthan has not been converted into broad gauge despite announcement made in the Railway Budget 2007-08; and

(b) if so, the reasons for delay alongwith the time by which it is likely to be completed?

(a) & (b): Gauge conversion of Jaipur-Sikar-Loharu is a part of Jaipur-Sikar-Churu & Sikar-Loharu gauge conversion project (320.04 kms) which was included in the Railway Budget 2008-09. Detailed survey has been completed and estimate is under process of sanction.

The project is likely to be completed in 3-4 years after sanction subject to availability of resources.
