Question : Conversion of Leasehold Properties into Freehold

(a) whether the Government has taken note of the problems faced by allottees of resettlement colonies in Delhi in conversion of leasehold properties into freehold in the absence of specific rules and regulations in this regard;

(b) if so, the details thereof and reaction of the Government thereto;

(c) whether the Government has received many representations in regard to open the freehold process of such properties and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government is considering to examine the re-entry cases for conversion of leasehold properties into freehold and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the other steps taken by the Government to address the concerns of allottees of resettlement colonies to get their properties converted into freehold?

(a) to (e): There is a conversion policy, which allows conversion of built up residential, commercial, mixed land use and industrial properties from leasehold to freehold. Re-entered cases are considered for conversion after the lessee pays the Government dues and re-entry of less or is withdrawn.
