(a) & (b):
(i) Under the centrally sponsored scheme of the “Appointment & Training of Hindi Teachers in non-Hindi speaking States/Uts, financial assistance was provided in the last three years to various State Governments for the appointment of Hindi teachers in different grades of schools. The details are available at Annexure-I. As per the scheme, the funds were utilized for paying the salaries of appointed teachers and for the construction of a Hindi training college ( in Aizawl, Mizoram ).


(ii) In addition, the Central Hindi Directorate (CHD), a subordinate office of this Department, provides funds to different NGOs located in various States for the promotion and development of Hindi. These funds are not given directly to the State Governments. The State-wise distribution of funds to NGOs during the last three years may be seen at Annexure-II. These funds are utilized for organizing Hindi classes, seminars, shorthand and typing classes, conducting declamation and debate competitions and for the purchase of books etc. for libraries.



(iii) Also, the Commission for Scientific & Technical Terminology (CSTT), a subordinate office of this Department, provides funds to the Hindi Granth Academies and University Cells of different state Governments to publish and promote the production of University level technical books in Hindi and other Indian Languages. This is done with a view to encourage the use of the Indian languages as mediums of instructions at the higher levels of education. Details of grants given in the last three years for the promotion of textbooks in Hindi are available at Annexure-III.
