a) the steps taken by the Government for economic empowerment of women in the country;
b) the number of women in the age group of 15-49 years having savings accounts in their names, State/UT-wise; and
c) the number of bank accounts opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan. Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) by women so far?

a) Government have taken various steps for economic empowerment of women in the country. These, inter alia, include establishment of the RastriyaMahilaKosh (RMK) for micro credit, Support to Training and Employment Programme for women (STEP) for sustainable employment and income generation, Stand Up India Scheme for greenfield enterprises set up by woman entrepreneurs etc
b) As per information compiled by the Reserve Bank of India, the total number of saving accounts held by women is 33.83 crore as on 31.03.2015. State/UT wise details are attached as Annexure I. Age group wise categorisation of account holders is not compiled centrally.
c) The number of bank accounts opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana by women as on 20th April 2016 is 11.13 crore.
