Question : MSME Units

(a) the details of the registered and unregistered Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) units in the country including their production capacities and products, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether the Government has to set up MSME units in various parts of the country during each of the last three years and the current year;

(c) if so, the details thereof along with the funds allocated therefore during the said period, State/UT-wise; and

(d) the other steps taken by the Government to promote MSMEs in the country?

(a): Information on the Registered and Unregistered MSME functioning in the country, State/UT-wise, as per the latest Census (Fourth Census), conducted (with base reference year 2006-07), wherein the data was collected till 2009 and results published in 2011-12, as well as data extracted from Economic Census 2005 conducted by CSO, MoSPI, for activities excluded from Fourth Census, namely wholesale/retail trade, legal, educational & social services, hotel & restaurants, transports and storage & warehousing (except cold storage) are given in Annexure-I. Also, the details of Entrepreneurs Memorandum Part-II filed at District Industry Centres during 2007-08 to 2014-15, indicating the total size of Registered MSME Sector is given in Annexure-I The Gross Output of Registered and Unregistered MSME, as per the results of latest census, are as given in Annexure-II.

(b): Setting up of MSMEs is essentially an individual initiative. Government does not set up any such enterprise.

(c): Does not arise.

(d): The major schemes / programmes to promote MSMEs are Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme, Credit Guarantee Scheme, Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme, Cluster Development Programme, Market Development Assistance Scheme, and Vendor Development Programme for Ancillarisation.
