Question : Gas Pipeline

(a) whether Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has received requests for laying of gas pipelines in Bihar during the last three years, if so, the details thereof; and
(b) the details and the outcome of the action taken at the Union level on the aforesaid requests?

(a) & (b) Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) is the authority to grant authorization to the entities for the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Geographical Areas (GAs) as per PNGRB Act, 2006. PNGRB identifies GAs for authorizing the development of CGD network in synchronization with the development of natural gas pipeline connectivity and natural gas availability. With regard to State of Bihar, PNGRB has authorized 11 GAs covering 28 districts for development of CGD network till 10th CGD Bidding Round by GAIL (India) Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Consortium of Think Gas Investments PTE Limited and IndianOil – Adani Gas Private Limited.
However, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has not been authorized to develop either gas pipeline or City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in the state of Bihar.
