Question : NATIONAL HIGHWAY BETWEEN CHENGALPATTU AND VILLUPURAM



(a) whether the Government are aware of the number of major accidents occuring daily on the National Highway between Chengalpattu and Villupuram in Tamil Nadu due to bad condition of Road; and

(b) if so, the action taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to improve the condition of National Highway in this stretch?

(a) No data is available with regard to cases of accidents on this road due to bad condition of the road.

(b) In order to enhance the safety and improve the efficiency of vehicular movement, Chengalpattu-Villupuram section of National Highway-45 in Tamil Nadu is proposed to be upgraded by widening it to four-lanes divided carriageway facility. The work of 4-laning on Chengalpattu-Tindivanam sub-section has already been awarded.
