(a): Development and promotion of tourism including formulating special plans is primarily the responsibility of the State Governments/Union Territory Administrations. Ministry of Tourism provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for projects which are identified in consultation with the State Governments/UTs. The projects which are complete as per scheme guidelines are sanctioned subject to availability of funds and submission of utilization certificates for funds released earlier.
Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned 278 projects with Central Financial Assistance of Rs.712.94 crore to Jammu and Kashmir during 10th, 11th and 12th Plan (2012-13 and 2013-14). This includes an amount of Rs.336.39 crore sanctioned to the State Government under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan (PMRP). The details of tourism projects prioritized for Jammu and Kashmir for the year 2014-15 are at Annexure-I.
