(a) whether the Government has taken note of lower enrolment ratio of girl
students in science and engineering colleges in the Country;
(b) if so, the reasons therefor; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government to enrich and enhance teaching and learning of science and mathematics at Senior Secondary Level among girl students?

(a)&(b): The enrolment ratio of male and female students in science and
engineering colleges as reported in the All India Survey on Higher Education
(AISHE) Report 2014-15 is at Annexure.
(c): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced an initiativenamed
UDAAN to address lower enrolment of girls in engineering colleges. This
initiative aims to reduce the quality gap between school education and engineering
education entrance exams by focusing on three dimensions- curriculum design,
transaction and assessment.
