Question : AMENDMENTS TO MOTOR VEHICLES ACT, 1988 TO CHECK POLLUTION



(a) whether the motor vehicles act has been amended for implementing the introduction of LPG as auto fuel using replaceable cylinder to reduce pollution;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) if not, the time by which the amendment is likely to be finalised?

(a),(b)&(c) : The Motor Vehicles Act has been amended in August, 2000 to allow use of environmentally friendly fuel including LPG for automotive purposes. Detailed guidelines about use of LPG are expected to be notified shortly. No decision has yet been taken regarding use of replaceable LPG gas cylinders.
