Question : IMMUNISATION OF CHILDREN



(a) the percentage of children immunized in the urban and rural areas of the country during the last two years, State-wise;

(b) the time by which the total immunization of children is likely to be achieved in the country;and

(c) the expenditure likely to be incurred in this regard?

(a) Segregated data for urban and rural areas for immunization coverage is not available for the last two years. However, as per District Level Household Survey-2 (DLHS-2) (2002-04) and District Level Household Survey-3 (DLHS – 3) (2007-08), the details of percentage of children fully immunized in urban & rural area is annexed.

(b) & (c). Routine Immunisation is an ongoing scheme and every year the newborn infants are to be immunised as per the immunisation schedule. Therefore, the expenditure incurred on this scheme is recurring in nature. The budgetary allocation for Routine Immunization for the year 2010-11 is Rs. 450.00 Crores.
