(a) whether thousands of workers have become unemployed due to closure
of Sindri Fertilizer plant;
(b) if so, the losses incurred by the plant during the last three years, year-
wise;
(c) the action taken by the Government to make this plant operational and
the reasons for the delay; and
(d) the time by which this unit is likely to become operational?

(a) : Sindri Fertilizer Plant, a unit of Fertilizer Corporation of India Ltd., was
closed vide Government decision taken in 2002. About 2067 employees
have been relieved under Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) as a result
of closure of Sindri Ferilizer Plant. These employees have been given the
financial benefit as per rules under VSS.
(b) : Government has not directly incurred any loss. However, cash loss
incurred by the Sindri Unit during the last three years is as under :-
