a. Appointments of Group-D posts in Railway Board are controlled by Railway Board (Railway Ministry)
b. As per recruitment Rules for Group `D` category of staff, 75% vacant posts of Messengers are filled up through Direct Recruitment, 10% through transfer from Zonal Railways/Production units and 15% from change of category. For other Group `D` categories 100% posts are filled up through Direct Recruitment only.
c. 23 persons were recruited in the year 1999-2000 against Direct Recruitment Quota. 5 persons have been recruited in the year 2000 against Sports Quota (Direct Recruitment) upto November 2000.
