MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT & POVERTY ALLEVIATION ( SHRI O. RAJAGOPAL )
(a)&(b): Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana is a demand-driven scheme
and the subsidy by the Government is sanctioned to the
States/UTs project-wise. States/UTs have to fix their own
targets under the scheme based on their demand for
housing/sanitation projects for eligible beneficiaries in the
slums vis-a-vis their financial resources as they have to put
their State share to the extent of 50% of the project cost as
fixed under the scheme (calculated on the basis of fixed unit
cost). Since the financial resources are limited both with the
Government & the States/UTs, the targets change from year to
year. It is the endeavour of the Government to interact with
the States/UTs to ensure receipt of their project proposals in
time so as to utilize the entire available budget allocations.
