(b) the eforts likely to be made by the Government to achieve the targets?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT & POVERTY ALLEVIATION ( SHRI O. RAJAGOPAL )

(a)&(b): Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana is a demand-driven scheme and the subsidy by the Government is sanctioned to the States/UTs project-wise. States/UTs have to fix their own targets under the scheme based on their demand for housing/sanitation projects for eligible beneficiaries in the slums vis-a-vis their financial resources as they have to put their State share to the extent of 50% of the project cost as fixed under the scheme (calculated on the basis of fixed unit cost). Since the financial resources are limited both with the Government & the States/UTs, the targets change from year to year. It is the endeavour of the Government to interact with the States/UTs to ensure receipt of their project proposals in time so as to utilize the entire available budget allocations.
