(a) The Government has taken the following measures to save the groundnut crop
from Bud Necrosis Virus disease:
(i) Constitution of survey teams to create awareness among the farmers and to
organise plant protection campaign for the control of the disease;
(ii) Training to farmers and other field functionaries in the proper diagnosis of the
disease and the vector;
(iii) Publicity through Akashwani, Doordarshan and visual display in the Cinema Halls
as well as distribution of pamphlets, etc. about the management of the disease;
and
(iv) Application of pesticides, viz. Monocrotophos mixed with the crude neem oil for
controlling the insect vector.
(b) & (c): A proposal for âAn Integrated Approach to Control Stem Necrosis of
Groundnutâ for funding under the National Agriculture Technology Project of Indian
Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has already been sanctioned for a sum of
Rs.42.574 lakhs.
(d) Question does not arise.
