Question : SCHEMES FOR WORKING WOMEN



(a) whether the Government has formulated/is implementing schemes for upliftment of working women including those engaged in agriculture in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of such women benefitted from the said schemes during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise; and

(c) the other steps taken/being taken by the Government in this direction?

MINISTER OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT(SHRIMATI MANEKA SANJAY GANDHI)

(a) to (c): Ministry of Women and Child Development is administering a scheme called Working Women Hostels for providing safe accommodation for working women away from their place of residence. Since the inception of the scheme in 1972, 916 Working Women Hostels (WWH) have been sanctioned across the country. Further, Rajiv Gandhi National Creche Scheme for Children of Working Mothers (including single mother) provides day care facilities for running a crèche of 25 children in the age group 0-6 years from families having monthly income of less than Rs.12,000/-.

Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture has informed that no specific scheme is being implemented for working women including those engaged in agriculture in country by them.
