Question : Skill Training to Migrant Labour

(a) whether the Government proposes to give approval for imparting skill training to the migrant labourers of Rajasthan who returned from other States due to Covid-19 under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna being implemented by Rajasthan Kaushal and Ajeevika Vikas Nigam;

(b) if so, the time by which the training will be imparted to them; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

Answer given by the minister

(a) The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has implemented the special programme under Central Component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) for fresh skilling (short term training) and up skilling (Recognition of Prior Learning) of the reverse migrant workers impacted from COVID-19. This special programme for reverse migrant workers has covered 116 districts of six States, namely, Bihar, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh to support the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan (GKRA). No separate proposal has been received from Rajasthan Kaushal and Ajeevika Vikas Nigam for training of reverse migrants under PMKVY.

(b) Enrollment under this special programme was closed on 21.02.2021. As on 10.07.2021, 70,823 migrants have been trained / oriented including 12,478 migrants from State of Rajasthan.

(c) In view of (a) and (b), question does not arise.
