Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS

(SHRI HARDEEP SINGH PURI)

(a): Urban transport, including Metro Rail, is an integral part of urban development, which is a State subject. Hence, the respective state government is responsible for initiating/developing and funding urban transport infrastructure including metro rail projects. Central Government considers financial assistance for metro rail proposals in cities or urban agglomerates, on the basis of feasibility of the proposal and availability of resources, as and when posed by the concerned state governments. The revised proposal of extension of metro rail connectivity from Narela to Kundli in Haryana as per Metro Rail Policy, 2017, has not been received from the State Government of Haryana.

(b) to (d): Do not arise.
