Question : GAIL`S LAKWA LPG RECOVERY PROJECT .



(a) the year in which GAIL`s Lakwa LPG Recovery Project approved and completed;

(b) the projected gas availability from ONGC, Lakwa region at the time of approving LPG Project;

(c) the actual availability of gas for the plant as on date;

(d) the reasons for the shortfall of gas; and

(e) the financial impact on the plant due to shortfall of gas availability?

(a) The LPG processing project of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) at Lakwa, approved on 01-10-1992, was actually completed on 19.10.1998.

(b) The design capacity of the project envisaged in the project report was 2.0 million standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD).

(c) Currently around 0.67 MMSCMD rich gas and 0.15 MMSCMD re-cycled (lean) gas is available for the plant.

(d) The availability of natural gas from the ageing fields of ONGC in the region is depleting.

(e) The short availability of gas for the Lakwa Project has resulted in the loss of around Rs 5 crore during 2000-01 and Rs 6 crore upto December 2001 during 2001-02.
