Question : Skill Development Centres

(a) whether the Government has received representations/proposals from Members of Parliament, State Governments or public representatives for setting up Skill Development Centres/Institutes under Prime Minister National Council on Skill Development;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the reaction of the Government thereon, State/UT-wise;

(c) the number of youth likely to be covered by these centres/institutions during the next three years;

(d) the number of youth likely to get employment through these centres/ institutions; and

(e) the time by which the said centres/ institutes are likely to be set up and the steps taken by the Government in this regard, State-wise?

Answer given by the minister

(a) to (e) The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship supports the proposals for training centres through financial assistance in the form of soft loans, equity and grants. NSDC has informed that they have received 20 representations/references from Members of Parliament from 11 States/UTs for setting up Multi Skilled Vocational Training Centres. NSDC sends its teams at constituencies as such for field study to assess the feasibility. Further, NSDC training partners have submitted expression of interest for setting up six training centres in five constituencies as under:-

As per the mandate, 70% placement is mandatory for each training partner to achieve.
