Question : EDP on Solar Energy

(a) whether the Ministry organizes Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) on solar energy in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the States/UTs where training programmes have been organised during each of the last three years and the current year along with its aims and objectives; and

(d) the details of the scope and availability of opportunities in the business of solar energy in the country?

(a): Yes Madam.

(b): The Ministry organizes Entrepreneurship Training Programme/Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme through Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), National Institute for MSME (ni-msme) and National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) on the subjects like solar roof top, solar sheet and other solar appliances assembling/ manufacturing by engaging technical experts. This programme is open to all categories of people, professionals, students etc.

(c): EDP on Solar Energy programme was started from the year 2015-16, hence no data is available for the years 2013-14 & 2014-15. During the year 2015-16, 3618 persons have been trained under Entrepreneurship Training Programme/Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (ESDP). The details are placed at Annexure-I.

The objectives of the programmes are:

i) to equip the newly entrant as solar entrepreneur for demystifying the business, finance, technology & regulatory landscape of solar energy;

ii) to disseminate information necessary to enter the business of Solar Energy along with providing excellent networking opportunities;

iii) to equip the candidates to have an understanding of the Installation & Design of a Solar system, Technology & Components, Site analysis, Load calculation;

iv) to make the participants aware about National Solar Mission, Government & State policies, Fundamentals of Solar Photovoltaic; and

v) to develop skills in developing technical manpower to meet Industries requirements.

(d): Government of India emphasizes that all State Governments, public undertakings to promote roof top solar energy either by investing own or with the Government assistance. There are ample opportunities available by taking solar as a business model. Some of the areas people can go for the following: (i) Selling Solar Products, (ii) Distribution Channel, (iii) Developing Own Solar Projects With Solar Energy, (iv) Innovate & Invent Solar Products, and (v) Produce Informational Products.
