The recognized National Sports Federations/Associations (NSFs) receive financial assistance from the Government under the scheme of `Assistance to National Sports Federations`. Financial assistance is provided for various activities such as training and participation in international sports tournaments abroad; holding of national championships for sub-junior, junior and seniors; organization of international tournaments; purchase of sports equipment and reimbursement of salary of Assistant/Joint Secretaries of National Sports Federations etc. During the last three years, an amount of around Rs. 104.63 crores has been released to recognized NSFs. The details of financial assistance provided to the recognized NSFs during 2002-2003, 2003-2004 and 2004-05 and thereafter during 2005-2006 till 29.4.2005 are given in the Annexure.
