Question : CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD IN CHHATISGARH



(a) whether several proposals for construction of roads and bridges under the road requirement plan in naxal affected areas have been submitted by the Government of Chhattisgarh;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the time by which the said proposals are likely to be sanctioned;

(d) whether the upgradation of 177 km length of roads on four National Highways and 124 km length of roads on four State highways are proposed for implementation in naxal affected areas in the State;

(e) if so, the details thereof; and

(f) the time by which the amount is likely to be released for these works under the scheme?

(a) Yes Sir.

(b) to (c) 47 proposals for improvement of 1944 km road stretches amounting to Rs. 3075 crore have been received in the Ministry under Road Requirement Plan for the State of Chhattisgarh, out of which, 37 proposals for improvement of 1491 km road stretches have already been sanctioned.

(d) to (e) The Road Requirement Plan for in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected Districts of Chhattisgarh envisages improvement of 355 km National Highways and 1737 km State Roads.

(f) The amount for sanctioned works is released from time to time linked to the actual progress. Rs.250 crore has been kept for year 2010-2011 for the works of Chahttisgarh under this programme.
