Question : Obstacles in the Path of Flights

(a) whether forty out of 365 obstacles that are on the approach and departure path for planes at the Indira Gandhi International Airport have been removed;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government is considering to undertake similar exercise to remove such obstacles in other airports in the country; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b) Yes, Madam. A total of 40 obstacles have been removed that were on the approach and departure path for planes at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Out of the 40 obstacles, 9 were cell phone mast, 27 were trees, 2 were building and 2 were light poles that have been removed.;

(c) The Aerodrome operator is required to regularly monitor, control and regulate obstacles around airport. In case any obstacle around the airport violating the requirement, is noticed by the aerodrome operator, he is required to initiate action for reducing the same as per the regulatory provisions.;;

(d) The Government has issued GSR 751(E) wherein the construction or erection of structure and plantation or growing of trees on any land within a radius not exceeding twenty kilometers from the Aerodrome Reference Point of a civil aerodrome are regulated by issuing NOC through Airports Authority of India(AAI).
