Question : Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects

(a) whether the Government had proposed to set up at least 25 Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects targeting over 20,000 MW of solar power installed capacity within a span of five years starting from 2014-15 in the country;
(b) if so, the number of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects so far set up during the said period along with their installed as well as actual capacity, State-wise including Odisha and Maharashtra;
(c) whether the Government has enhanced the production capacity of the scheme in 2017;
(d) if so, the extent to which it has so far been enhanced and target achieved therefrom, State-wise;
(e) whether the Government is implementing any scheme which envisages supporting the States/UTs in setting up solar parks at various locations; and
(f) if so, the funds sanctioned and allocated to various States including Odisha and Maharashtra under the scheme so far?

(a) to (f) The Government had launched the scheme in December, 2014 to set up 25 solar parks with a cumulative capacity of 20000 MW by 31.03.2019 (Phase-I). The capacity target was enhanced to 40,000 MW in March, 2017 to be achieved by 31.03.2024 (Phase-II). As on 28.02.2022, the Government have sanctioned 56 solar parks of cumulative 38,266 MW capacity in 15 States in the country under the scheme. State-wise and solar park wise details of capacity sanctioned, capacity installed and the funds released including for Odisha and Maharashtra under the scheme are given at Annexure.
